It had been a very quite night, Lucy couldn't get any sleep however. She didn't know why really, she just knew that her mind was racing quickly. Thinking about her past, even thought she didn't remember a lot of it. Lucy wished she could remember her parents better then she did, but she was young when they both died. It was amazing how empty a person could feel, feeling like a part of them died and there is no way to reawaken that part of yourself. Lucy had been sad for a few days, but when she was around people she would just put on a big smile and push herself forward.
She didn't want to ever appear weak, which was why she always hid her pain. She never talked about anything that bothered her, because she didn't think she had the right to complain. Or talk about herself, she was the queens assistant. But then again she was also the queens friend she knew. But still it was very hard, she was used to handling everything herself. That was one thing she remembered about her father, teaching her to handle her own problems. To not burden anyone with her private issues, she didn't know what to do any more really.
But she shook the thought from her mind and relaxed a bit, she watched the sun come up. It was such a beautiful sight, Lucy had taken a bath early that morning. And decided to get dressed, so she could wake the queen and start her day. Even though she hardly had any slept, it felt like she was well rested. So today shouldn't be so bad, all she had to do was just shove herself into a busy day. Which shouldn't be that hard in a castle full of people, she wondered what the day would bring actually.
It was amazing how things worked out, how she had seen so many wonderful things in her life. Seeing the princess now crowned Queen, it was amazing. But now wasn't time for that, she made a special breakfast for the Queen because it was a special day, ten years ago today they met and became best friends. So she went to the Queens room, knocked three times. Like she always did and walked in, shutting the door behind her.
"Good Morning Your Majesty" She said happily.

-- Danielle's night had been sad and depressing. For once her husband was not away on a trip for something or another. The first few years as King, she was told, were always the busiest. She had taken advantage of this by going and talking to her wonderful husband about having a child. It was something she thought they were ready for, and ought to be trying for. It wasn't that she cared about what the people thought, but she wanted to be a mother more than anything. The conversation was mostly one sided. He said not yet, and she asked why not, and then he had told her just because. Of course she couldn't argue with him, he was the King first, husband second.
-- Did he despise going to be with her that much? She hadn't thought their wedding night had gone that badly. Maybe he was just busy with something. Danielle realized she had just poured all her feelings out at once. Perhaps another time before he left again. She had gone to sleep restless and discontent. Danielle finally fell asleep but her dreams were odd and choppy. She was just dwelling too much on the conversation between her and her husband. Everything would work itself out.
-- As soon as she had fallen into an easy sleep, she was awoken by three knocks on her door, and the voice of her maid waking her. She was a little upset, but it was time to wake up. She would just have to retire for a nap through the day. Maybe talk to her husband again. That would surely wear her out if it went anything like the previous night. "Good morning, Lucy." Danielle said, giving her a warm smile. Lucy had started out as her maid, and they became very good friends. Danielle felt very comfortable with her around. It wasn't so formal as it had been with previous maids.

She put her breakfast down and looked up at her friend and knew something was wrong. Her eyes showed so much sorrow it almost killed her, she sat down beside her and smiled at her. She was a strong queen, but even from time to time everyone needed to talk to someone.
"What's wrong my friend?" Lucy said with a very kind smile
That was the thing with Lucy, you could tell her everything you wanted to. And she would never tell anyone or look down at you, but it was like she had a power within her, the power of empathy in a way. But that was just her, she seemed to understand, even if she came from a world much different then her friends.
But that was how it was with her, as she poured some tea and looked at her. She could tell she didn't sleep either, now she felt horrible because she needed her rest. She had a big responsibility, Lucy Not so much. She was just a lady, but knew she was also her friend as well. Because she saw what others didn't see, a woman without a crown. She reached over and stroked her cheek.

-- Danielle knew that she wouldn't be able to keep anything from Lucy, even as hard as she tried. For some reason, Lucy could see right through her. But she didn't want to burden her with her problems. Danielle really didn't have anyone else to talk to though. Sure enough. Lucy asked her what was wrong. "Well, it's really nothing, but it is kind of something." Danielle said quietly, looking down at her hands. It was kind of embarrassing to say that your husband didn't want to have a child with you. Maybe Lucy would have some advice for her. Or at least cheer her up.
-- "I talked to the king last night about having a child. I'm ready for it, but he isn't. He got upset and yelled at me. I don't see what I did wrong, or what would cause him to get to upset. He usually isn't reactive like that." There could be a thousand reasons why he wasn't ready to have a child, but what upset Danielle is that she didn't know why he didn't want to have one just yet. Surely they were ready? It couldn't possibly be he didn't want to share a bed with her. He had seemed pleased enough on their wedding night and nights after. It just made her very confused and upset.

Lucy listened to her friend and queen, and nodded as she got up and sat down on the queens bed. Placing her hand on Danielle's and then wrapped her arms around her, wanting to comfort her. When she pulled away she stroked her cheek. "Don't loose heart Danielle, the king has a huge responsibility. Maybe he is scared about having a child, afraid he maybe a bad father or wont have personal time with the child?" She said kindly, a smile on her face.
"I know neither of you are getting any younger, and I can tell you want a baby badly. But perhaps he needs more time, perhaps you should ask if he is afraid. "

-- Lucy sat down next to her, and Danielle enjoyed the closeness of her friend and the touch of her hand on her own. Her eyes closed as Lucy also embraced her. It was just what she needed. That was one thing you lost when you became queen; you lost the closeness of friendships and the touch of others. She could barely even touch her husband in the company of others. It was a very hard life, but she wouldn't trade it. It was an extreme honor, and she loved her people.
-- "Maybe. He has been busy. I guess it wasn't exactly the right time to ask, but I was just so excited. I want this more than anything." What she just spoke out loud was one hundred percent true. With the attacks becoming a more pressing issue; they were growing more close to the capitol and surrounding areas. Danielle nodded. "I think I'll do that. I'll have to wait for the perfect opportunity, though."[/b[ She thought out loud. If the timing wasn't perfect, the situation would go exactly like it had the last time.

Lucy smiled at her, when it was just the two of them she treated her as a friend not a queen. Because just because she was queen didn't mean she wasn't normal, wasn't human. But of course in front of people she would show proper respect, never calling her by her given birth name. But that was there special relationship she had with her, stroking her friends cheek. Brushing away a strand of her hair, she knew she hadn't slept.
"You have been up all night thinking haven't you, I'm very sorry I woke you up. If you like I can leave your breakfast and let you eat, then get back to sleep?" She said in a sweet tone, but thinking about her husband situation. "You know with your husband, I know he loves you very much so try and not loose hope. If you wanted to have a romantic dinner with him, I could set something up. I could cook for you two, since I personally cook for you and you have never complained" She smiled.
"I like to think I'm a good cook, I'm here for you Danielle. I will always see you as my best friend and queen, and if you ever need to talk and its late and even if I'm sleeping id want you to come to me. I want to see you happy, your the only family I have. I'm just your lady in waiting but I know you treasure our friendship as much as I do" She kissed her forehead.

-- Danielle was very grateful for the fact Lucy treated her as a friend and not a queen. A friendship was what Danielle needed more than anything. Although she trusted her with her life, there were just some things Danielle couldn't tell her. It was for Lucy's own safety, though. You never knew when someone would find out that you knew more than you should and try to get it out of you. She didn't know how things were doing to go if the beast attacks grew closer to the capital.
-- She nodded. "I have. I just can't stop thinking about it! Oh no. Please stay. I couldn't go back to sleep if I wanted to." Danielle said honestly. It was better to just face the day and try to keep busy rather than sleep. She hated wasting days. And she wasn't really hungry, either, but she needed to eat to keep her strength up if her husband finally decided he wanted a child. "That actually sounds wonderful! I think he'd really like that. And we both need it." Danielle replied, suddenly feeling better. Lucy always knew what to do.
-- "You're a wonderful cook!" Danielle exclaimed, giving her friend a hug. Lucy's food was amazing, and always made her feel better. She nodded, grateful for her friend's kind words and offer. She didn't know anyone who was so selfless. Danielle didn't know anyone who would offer the same to her for none other reason than just being nice. Everyone tried to befriend her to get on her good side, to get one up on the person standing next to them.
