It was just another ordinary day in the life of Lady Cadence Black.
Or so she thought.
Cady was as usual bored. Not that she minded of course, but being in a different household she figured she might be on taking on more responsibilities. She had been staying at the Lord of Avonderre’s castle for over a month, almost two now and she couldn’t be any happier. Laeghton was her world, her everything and yes they had had their ups and downs over the duration of her stay so far, but it was easily manageable once Cady got all the things that Laeghton could and that he could harm himself with out of the castle and far away from him. She knew she was love with him and he had been wonderful with her. The only weakness of his was with his opium addiction and she knew it was almost impossible for him to give it up right then and there. He was not perfect yet he treated her as she deserved to be and he was loyal and kind to her always.
As she hummed a tune in her head moving around the kitchen, she had decided to surprise Laegh his special nickname that she had called him from the morning after she had arrived with a picnic lunch in the gardens. The sun was outside shining and the weather was perfect for once. It was not too hot or too cold outside, perfect for a picnic lunch. He had been busy with work with the threats of war and he had been meeting with people in the village constantly. She occupied her time sewing, cooking, things of the sort that Laeghton did not deem necessary for her yet she didn’t mind. She had done some of those things while in Queen Danielle’s court yet she did not mind. It gave her something to do. Life was almost perfect for her.
She slowly placed the plates inside of the picnic basket along with some wrapped up chicken, cooked vegetables from the gardens, mashed up potatoes and some sweets for the dessert. Carefully placing two goblets in the top along with silverware, napkins and a pitcher of ice cold water next to it, she smiled at herself satisfied with her work. Laeghton didn’t seem to mind that she spent her time helping servants and he had complimented her plenty of times on her cooking. So she was ready to surprise him.
Leaving the things in the kitchen, Cady smoothed down her black satin dress with purple around it pushing her sleeves up and heading upstairs towards his office.
“Is Lord Mercer in his study Geoffrey?” She asked one of the servants gently and he nodded.
“Yes Lady Cadence, he is.”
“Thank you Geoffrey, also thank you for all your hard work today especially in the gardens. They look wonderful.” She complimented him with a smile and he nodded towards her as he headed down the stairs towards the foyer. Cady turned back towards the corridor where his study was and she knocked on the door gently. Hearing him tell her to come in, she did so and giving him a smile as she closed the door behind her.
“Hello my Laegh.” She greeted him with a bright, loving smile as she headed over towards him and leaned down to kiss his cheek gently before leaning over to his ear, “I have a surprise for you. I have a picnic lunch that is waiting for us. I know you must be hungry since you didn’t eat much at breakfast. I hope you can join me in the gardens.” She said softly kissing his cheek once more as she stood up tall once more hoping that he would be joining her.

Laeghton was spending the morning in the words of others. By that, he was spending his time reading over the writings, poetry, and battle tactics of many who had gone before him. His gift in languages was something he was very glad to have in times like this, as he could more easily access the works of France or the Spanish lands or any of the Germanic kingdoms. He had learned seven languages in all, and besides those, variations of them several of them. He spoke fluent French, Latin, and English--standard, of course--and then Spanish, Catalan, German, and Gaelic, all of which he knew various dialects. If nothing else, Laeghton was well-learned in his speech.
Several of those, though, he knew not in reading or writing, but just in speech. Irish and Scottish Gaelic, particularly, seeing as if they ever attacked England, he would be a valid diplomat. Of course, Laeghton had other hobbies as well; among them were medicinal herbs and gardening. But those were just pasttimes, and he had his own township to run, so all in all, there was not much time for anything other than overseeing the district of Avonderre.
And oversee, he did. It wasn't the greatest township in the world, but it certainly wasn't the worst. They fared well here, and sometimes Laeghton would venture out into the streets to check on everything for himself. That was, after all, how he'd come to meet Cadence. He was always curious about how things were run, both in the town below his manor, and at the castle itself. He watched with careful, understanding eyes, and made sure that he understood enough to be able to help solve any problems that came along with a given task. Laeghton tried oh so hard to be good, but when it came down to it, he was too overwhelmed to ever commit focus to one thing wholly.
But he tried, as he tried also to be a good Catholic. It was his sustenance, religion, and without it, there would have been plenty more occurances wherein he would have attempted suicide. In fact, he may never have had any hope for the return of his sister without it.
He heard an unwarranted knock on his study door, which broke his train of thought and gave him a bit of a start. "Come in," he invited. He wasn't trying to hide in here, and he welcomed visitors. It may have appeared otherwise, though, what with him being here for the past several days, bent over maps of the territory and letters from King Joscelin. When the door opened, he was glad to see that it was his lovely Cadence, dressed as always like royalty. Then again, she was a royal in her own right, ranking in fact above himself.
"Good morrow, my beautiful lady," he replied pleasantly, stowing away his pipe in his desk. Ah, a surprise. A picnic? Indeed, that was a surprise. He'd not had one of those since being promoted Lord Avonderre, and that would definitely rejuvenate his mind. He craned his neck and kissed her back gently, saying then, "That sounds lovely, darling. I would love to." He stood, glad for the chance to break from his tactical work, and offered her his arm, as any gentleman ought.

Cady knew that she was not going to be denied of seeing Laeghton whenever she wanted to. Sure he had been busy the past few weeks with letters pouring in from King Joscelin and fellow noblemen around the country. Rumors were all over the place about threats of war from Tyrian and it's tyrant of a king. Rolling her eyes, Cady focused her sole attention back on the love of her life as he acknowledged her. She walked over to him and kissed him gently on the lips rubbing his shoulders gently with her hands trying to masage them gently. "Morning my Laegh." She replied back with a smile and then smiled brighter when he agreed to join her. She was glad that she could help him escape from the world of warfare and politics for at least an hour or so. He stood up offering his arm to her and she immediately placed her arm in his as they headed down the stairs where they were stopped. There had been a knock at the door and when Geoffrey answered, it was announced that Cady had a very important, urgent letter. She raised an eyebrow as she let go of Laeghton's arm and walked over to the messenger. "Thank you sir." She replied as she handed the messenger some coins from her pouch and then walked back over to Laeghton who was looking at her curiously. She shrugged and placed the letters in her other hand as she placed her arm through his once more and led him downstairs to the kitchen where the picnic basket and pitcher of water was waiting for them. She grabbed them both and led him outside past the gardens and out into the field behind the castle that overlooked the lake. "Here, isn't it beautiful?" She asked curiously with a smile as she placed everything down and laid down a blanket that had been placed in the basket by a servant after she almost forgot about it. She sat down on it grabbing the basket and setting it down with everything inside of it. Cady sat down and opened the seal of Charles that closed the letter. She read it and her eyes went wide with every sentence that she had read. Dear Cady,
I write you urgently with this information and I hope that no one else sees this. Please show this to Lord Mercer and King Joscelin as soon as possible. Enclosed is a letter to both men explaining the situation. I understand that you are now at Lord Mercer's residence as his guest.
Against his advisors, our Father has decided to go ahead with his plans of attack. We don't know when it will happen, but he is gathering all of the armies. Also do not be frightened, however, there are rumors that people have seen you in Solraya that had been spread around court. So you might be in danger.
Do not dwell on these rumors dear Cady. I pray for you everyday. We will be reunited soon.
Always, Charles Cady let out a half scream as she dropped the letter and her hands went over her mouth. She couldn't believe this was happening right now. Her body soon began to shake as she tried not to look at Laeghton right now.

Laeghton's estate had always been kept open. His first wife had despised him for that--like she'd despised him for everything--but it had never mattered to him. If someone needed his help, he would help them, because that was simply who he was, and he would never deny someone the right that they had to the best life they could make. Sometimes, it cost him, sure, because he had unwanted visitors, but sometimes, it saved the lives of his Avonderre villagers. Lately, of course, no one had dared go near the castle of the melancholy gentleman, and his visitors had deserted him.
He looked at Cady with a desertion in his eyes, and it was evident he'd spent too long alone. She knew that, though. He smiled a bit more. He was hers, was he? He'd see about that. She'd denied him marriage once; her chance to have him always. Though, Laeghton failed to understand how she could possibly want him to be hers; he had yet to figure out what she saw in him, honestly. He wasn't any good. He was an addict and a generally disorganized man with a life that was a mess. "You never cease to amaze me," he said, flushing slightly with his words and shaking his head to be rid of the embarassment. But he let the short spell pass and stood to accompany his young sweetheart to her picnic.
He stole a quick kiss before they made their way downstairs, his mind still ablaze with other thoughts, like how perhaps he'd have a better chance of getting a yes from Cady at this picnic of hers. She'd been here a month and surely she knew that he wasn't going to let her leave him. But they were stopped suddenly, with a letter that had been brought to Cady. Laeghton creased his brow. What was this?
But as Cady rejoined him, it was clear that she wasn't altogether too concerned about whatever was in the letter. They continued outside, all the while with Laeghton as silent as the stones that gathered about his estate, and still terribly curious about her letter. It had been called urgent, and Laeghton had been on his toes since he'd last heard news of King Andrew's tactics--not yet ready, but potentially attacking initially on Avonderre, the side-kingdom of Solraya and one of King Joscelin's besst holdings. It just made him nervous to think he'd have to face an attack of that potential brutality.
Cady said something and he cleared his head. "It's... gorgeous," he said, hoping he'd heard that right. She was on his deaf side. "Much like the company." He smiled sweetly, not meaning to flirt but also making sure he paid enough heed to the woman he was with. But he was still incredibly curious about that letter, and was glad to see her open it. He watched with fascinated concern as she reacted to all the words she was reading, and he knew it was not good news.
She screamed and he moved to console her, but he didn't even know what was in the letter. With a daring glance in her direction, he picked up the parchment, Cady having dropped it, and read it for himself... Ah. So Joscelin had been right in his hunches. Andrew was indeed intending to attack. But that wasn't the most important part of all this--the worst was that he had to keep Cady safe from enemies that he hadn't figured out. She wasn't safe here anymore, but he couldn't bear to part with her. She'd saved him from alcohol, at least. "Cadence, I..." he didn't even know what to say.

Cady was glad to get out of the castle for now and spend as much time with Laeghton as she could. She knew he had been preoccupied with his work lately and with the constant letters from King Joscelin regarding matters of war, politics and state. She knew both men did not care for those topics, but both were in charge of their countries. King Joscelin had written to Laeghton weeks ago regarding the whole threat of war coming from her father. She had decided that Laegh had deserved and needed an afternoon off from everything going on.
Hearing his comment about her being gorgeous company, she blushed a bit more and spun around so that she was in front of him. Cady smiled and leaned up to kiss him gently on the lips. "You are wonderful company as well," She remarked back to him with a smile before she opened the pouch full of letters once more.
Cady did not want to see Laeghton's reaction to everything. She knew that he had been dealing with enough. Sure his drinking had stopped yet his opium addiction had been stronger because of the stress coming his way and this would not help. She did not want to put him in any kind of danger, that was the last thing she wanted. He was a strong man , but not a fighter like a soldier was. He was older than most soldiers and could easily get injured quick enough in battle.
"Laeghton, I am so sorry. I put you in danger." She told him through her tears her hands shaking as they covered her mouth before grabbing the individual letter that was addressed to him from Charles and slowly handed it to him as he read her own letter. The other one had to be sent to King Joscelin immediately with haste. He needed to receive the letter by nightfall.
"I should leave so you wouldn't be in danger anymore, but I can not part with leaving you Laeghton. I love you I know I do and I apologize for not making my actions and feelings known sooner. However it would be safer if I did leave, if you wish me to leave then I will of course. I do see it in your eyes that you do not wish to dismiss me. I am scared. Everything that is going on is because of me and once I found happiness and love, it's in danger. I must leave so you and Wren Rae won't be in any danger unless..." She trailed off with an idea that was also dangerous but it could keep them all safe.
Marriage.
It was certainly an idea and Cady longed for it one day with Laeghton. She had rejected him once before only because she felt as if he wasn't truly wanting it at the time. She knew she had wanted to marry him a long time ago, maybe it was the ideal time right now. It could save them all right now.
"Laegh...let's get married. As soon as possible."

For the past few weeks, Laeghton had been inseperable from his study, mulling over both current affairs and historical affairs that had some bearing on the way things may turn out. He read Greek and Roman accounts and tried to find similar situations throughout the European empires. Sometimes he did--history often liked to repeat--but for the most part, he was just stuck. Brilliant tactician, though he might be, Laeghton didn't want to go to war with Tyrian.
Laeghton laughed a bit. "I try to be," he said, lacing those words with the knowledge that he was still addicted to something, and that he could not be a perfect man for her until he let go of that. He hugged her gently and sighed as he felt a breeze across the way. This was a nice day, to be sure.
He caught his breath as he read the letter, but Cady's reaction was worse. He knew what this all meant for her, being involved in family affairs in Tyrian. And then there was her brother, who did not like "King" Andrew. Poor girl, this whole ordeal was enough to make her give up. But she didn't; she was strong. And Laeghton could only hope that he could be that strong too, when he was faced with battle. He was a knight; he was battle trained and ready, but that didn't mean he wanted to fight. He was getting old, after all--battle would never spell good for him or for his dear friend King Joscelin.
"You've done nothing of the sort," he said absently, "I was already in a position to be attacked, Cady. It's not your fault." Laeghton knew that Avonderre wouldn't stand up to an attack. He'd have to have help from his Solrayan allies, or Avonderre would be no more. He took his own letter and read it over hastily, but as he saw that there wasn't much more information in it, he laid it down harshly on the ground beside him. This would take up his evening, for sure. More tactics. More spying. More warfare. That was absolutely the last thing Laeghton wanted to see in the kingdom, but it looked now like it was also the inevitable. There would soon be a fight, be it tomorrow or a twelvemonth from now, and he would be involved however he could be.
He looked at her and took her in his arms. She was falling apart, too. He stroked her hair and answered quietly, "You won't be leaving me. I can't let you. But don't be afraid, Cadence, my princess. I'll keep you safe, no matter what I have to do." He meant it. He was a caretaker, after all, and nothing would stop him from taking care of those whom he loved. Neither Cadence nor Wren Rae would ever be hurt again, not on his time.
She was thinking of something, but as hard as he tried to read the thoughts working behind her eyes, he couldn't. He was blind to the thoughts of a woman, and her words took him by surprise more than anything.
"You... want to be married? I thought... Alright, Cadence, but let me get you a ring first. I didn't know... that you loved me. I love you so much." He kissed her. He didn't care what she thought.

Cady had knew a long time ago that being with the Lord of Avonderre alone with the threats of war constantly surrounding them was going to be a quiet and probably quick encounter. Yet she had maintained her patience and understanding through everything and the rewards of spending evenings with Laeghton after he had checked on Wren Rae were worth everything. She had found books for him to read that he hadn't before and he had shared stories with her about his childhood and how much he enjoyed her with him. There were many evenings of them accidentally falling asleep on one another in one of their beds. She loved waking up with Laegh's warm, gentle arms wrapped around her shielding her from everything that was going on around them in the outside world. Even when she had left Tyrian, she knew that there was always a threat of war. She prayed to God many nights that her father would be convinced it was a dumb idea sooner rather than later. So far her prayers had not been answered just yet. She wouldn't give up yet, she couldn't for Laeghton's sake.
She watched Laeghton read his own letter and he threw it down on the ground roughly and wrapped her arms around him at the same time he wrapped his around her shaking, trembling body. She was so nervous and scared for everyone mostly for herself and Laeghton right now, "Laegh please don't call me princess anymore. I ran away from that life a long time ago and I never want to turn back or even think about it except when it comes to my brother. I am merely Cady and that's it. I am practically a nobody here and I was a nobody there as well. I want to be someone with you though. I will do whatever it takes to protect you as well. I will never leave you unless you wish me to leave." She told him softly taking his cheek in her hand and stroking it gently using the back of her fingers as she stared into his worried eyes. She could only imagine how awful she must look right now yet he had not left her side through everything.
Knowing that her suggestion was a bit extreme, Cady wondered how exactly Laeghton would react to the idea of marrying her. The look of shock that came across his face was not shocking, but what came out of his mouth as a response was. So he was agreeing with her right now? He wanted to marry her! She felt more tears coming down her face, but this time it was happy tears.
"I do want to be married to you however I do not need a ring from you to prove anything Laeghton. I do love you, I have loved you since our first night when we were in your bed sleeping after I had that horrible nightmare about Thornton. Waking up in your arms felt like I was safe...as if I was finally at home and had some peace with myself. Laeghton I love so much that I can't even begin to describe how much I do. I would even die for you. I will be the best wife ever I promise you on my life." She asked him softly before feeling his lips crash down on hers. She immediately kissed him back hard wrapping her arms around him tightly before slowly pulling away and resting her forehead against his.
"Are you sure you wish to marry me Laegh? Truly?" She asked him curiously hoping that she was not rushing him into something he didn't want, but had a feeling that he truly did want this. She just wanted to make sure one last time before she would drop the subject. She could not believe that she found happiness so quickly like this yet she did not regret anything right now. Cady loved Laeghton and nothing would ever change that.

The coming threat of war was weighing very heavily on Laeghton's mind, and he knew that he was not thinking rationally. His mind was rushing with all sorts of thoughts and emotions, and he wasn't sure what he was going to do. It wasn't normal for Laeghton to be so unsure of himself, but right now, he was. He shook his head, trying to clear the thoughts, but they were not going away. He looked at Cadence hoping for some sort of miracle to make these thoughts go away, but he was hopeless. This feeling was much too familiar for his liking, and he sighed.
But at least Cadence had been his salvation. She had saved him from some of himself, and she had been there to give him someone to care for when Wren Rae locked herself in her room because she didn't want to talk. He looked over at her, stroked her hair, and said with a smile, "But you'll always be my princess. I don't care where you go. This is my castle, and you are my princess." He forced a short laugh but he knew it was not called for. He did not have to be false in front of Cadence, because she now knew him for who he was and she still loved him. God knew why, but she loved him when he didn't really deserve to be loved, and she was always there for him. It was curious, what with the age gap, but it did not matter a bit to him.
He treasured that look on her face when he told her he loved her. She was precious when she was happy, and she almost looked like she didn't believe him. He nodded. "I love you so much, Cadence." He brushed away her tears.
"No," he chided gently. He had to be a proper gentleman, as fast as this was going. "You'll have a ring and you'll have it by tonight. And we'll be married as soon as I can find a priest." He smiled, for he had never been happier. He had the woman he loved most by his side, and now she was going to be his forever. He would never again be trapped in an unloving marriage, and perhaps this way he would even get the children he'd been wanting for years.... But as these thoughts crossed his mind, Laeghton remembered that he also had to protect her from her father and his people. She was not supposed to marry him, but was going to anyway, and he had to keep her safe until he knew they would be alright.
"Do you jest?" he asked lightly. "I've already asked you once." He smiled and kissed her once more.

The last thing Cady wanted to do was burden Laeghton anymore that what she had already done so far. She loved him more than anyone and that was honestly the last thing she wanted to do to anyone she loved or cared about. She was one back in Tyrian, but things were different now. She had to keep reminding herself that she was finally away from the loneliness and cruelty world and now with an amazing man who loved her as much as she loved him and wanted to spend time with her, time meaning the rest of his life as well.
She always knew she had been different from other girls and when Laeghton had suddenly appeared in her life, she thought that he was just another typical Lord of a castle, however, fate had thrown her a curve when she had realized just how different both emotionally and mentally from anyone else that she had met. Her and Laeghton had been hurt by many people throughout their lives and had their weaknesses, yet had somehow found a way to love one another and trust one another. Now look at her, she thought to herself, smiling, now she was getting married to the man that she loved.
Sighing, she decided to let Laeghton call her princess knowing that he was only teasing her, "Alright just between you and me, you're the Lord and I'm the Princess. Although I am soon to be your Lady. That I always will be. I know your first marriage ended horribly, but I promise you that I am nothing like her and will always love and support you my Laegh." She told him gently as she blushed while he wiped her tears away.
"I love you too Laegh, I honestly do love you so much as well. If you insist on a ring, then that is acceptable, yet I do not require one. How soon can you think you can get a priest my love?" She asked him curiously raising an eyebrow at him before leaning over to meet his lips as he kissed her once more. She wrapped her arms around him forgetting about the lunch and the letters.
Pulling away Cady smirked and kissed him once more, "I do not jest whatsoever. I was so stupid not to accept beforehand." She commented confidently kissing him softly once more before heading down his neck giving him tiny, soft kisses.

Laeghton wanted everything to resolve. He wanted a happy ending wherein his sister was with him and he could live out his days in peace, knowing that war was not upon his land, nor fear upon his house. He wanted to know that he would be safe from harm when he fell in love, and to know that he would never have to work so hard to protect everything that was important to him. He wanted peace, for once, not war. He wasn't a young man anymore, and he just wanted to be able to get older without worrying.
At his side was a girl who meant everything to him, one that he would die to keep safe and one that he would willingly grant every wish she had. She was meant for him--and he hoped every day, him for her. He wanted to be her prince and her knight in shining armour, who slew her dragons and kept her in his protection every hour of the day. He wanted to keep her out of the line of Tyrian's fire, and more than all, away from her father.
Yes, this marriage was going to be a bit of an illegal affair, seeing as her family would not be agreeing to it, but Laeghton figured that as he were a lord, he could do as he pleased. He always had in the past. A sly sideways grin worked its way onto his face as he knew that she'd be his, if he had to run away with her. "My Lady. My Lady," he repeated softly. He liked the way it sounded from his lips. "Oh, not soon enough," he said, knowing he couldn't wait much longer for her to be the center of his life.
He nodded. "Tomorrow," said he, contemplating as the words escaped his lips, "Tomorrow you'll have a ring. Silver from Ireland, with a big Emerald in the middle. And sapphires and rubies surrounding." He smiled, thinking big. He had, in truth, a great deal of wealth, but was very frugal and never spent more than he needed spend.
He allowed his face to melt into a slightly seductive look and responded with compassion, "You were just being careful. But I love you more than I've loved anyone, and I want you to be mine." There was almost a hunger in his eyes. He was being driven to keep her for his own, as selfish as he might be, because he could not stand to see her anywhere but at his side. She was the antidote to his troubles, and he would still get better in time. All it seemed to take was love.

Against her own experiences and her head screaming that love was not an option for her, Cady's heart had won over her logic and her brain screaming to slow down and make sure that Laeghton was actually worthy of her heart and soul. Even though it had only been a couple months since she had actually come across the kindness and devotion of the man that was the Lord of Avonderre, she had known from their first moments together that he was someone special to her. Now they were going to get married one day and she found herself wanting a short engagement. If Laeghton wanted the same thing as her, then she could have her wish shortly. It was really Laeghton's decision and if a priest could work around their schedules. She didn't want a big, elegant, extravagent wedding, she just wanted her fiance there next to her. Charles being there would have been wonderful, yet it was impossible. Cady also longed for Dani's company, she missed her good friend, the Queen of Solraya. Maybe she could see Dani when she went to Solraya to deliver the letter from her brother to King Joscelin.
This marriage was going to be quick and a bit illegal, but none of that mattered to her right now. She wanted to be with Laeghton for the rest of her life and be his best friend, lady and lover. It was strange to her that she had gone from Princess of Tyrian to a seamstress and then had become one of Dani's ladies-in-waiting and now she was going to become Lady of Avonderre. She would do anything Laeghton desired of her and if that meant helping him run the country, she would. She also longed for children to give him. She was finally getting a happy ending, what an amazing feeling.
"I am your Lady and yours alone my Lord. Always and forever." Cady remarked to him with a smile before leaning up to kiss him gently on the lips once more.
Blushing a bit at how big and beautiful her ring was going to be, she smiled, "Whatever ring I have, I will love it and cherish it always. It sounds beautiful already Laegh, you are so good to me when I don't deserve it. You are the most amazing man ever and I can not wait to become your wife and hopefully mother of your children." She replied with a smile stroking his cheek once more.
"I hope we get a priest as soon as possible as well. I hope that maybe Queen Danielle may attend, she is my closest friend besides you. I do not expect her to be there, but when I take the letter to King Joscelin in a couple days, I shall call upon her. How is Wren Rae fairing? I hope to speak with her whenever she is ready for company." She asked softly before remembering their food.
"We should eat before our food gets cold my Laegh. I have loved you for a long time as well and you do not need to worry about that anymore, I am yours. You are mine and I am yours." She told him with a smile as she took his hand and guided him to sit next to her before grabbing the food and handing him a plate of food that she had made for him.

Laeghton was spending his time right now thinking of his future, and thinking mostly that he wanted to have all of this legal malarkey behind him. He just wanted to be married so that he could go one with his life and so that he could attend to Cadence and to Wren Rae. He was more concerned with them than he was with himself, and his life was certainly revolving lately around the two women in his household. Sometimes he felt bad for Cadence, because he spent so much time trying to keep his kingdom and his sister in check, and not as much with her.
Perhaps after they married that would be no more. He was offering the Princess of Tyrian a title that was much more becoming of a girl such as herself, and with that came the protection of Solraya and Avonderre together, which he knew she needed. Good brother she might have, but her father was another story.
Laeghton's smile broadened and he said simply, "I know." before accepting her light kiss. He knew that marriage would be something much different than she knew right now, and that love could be far more physical than her young mind had ever heard of. Of course, Laeghton's first wife had not loved him, and she probably would have beaten him if she could have.
"Ah, but I am lucky to have you to keep me in line. And I do hope you will be. I've had neither children nor a good wife in my past." He grinned, alluding to that atrocious woman he'd separated himself from five years ago. He took Cadence by her hand to assure her that she would be so much more to him than just another chore to feed and clean up and try to cope with. Marriage should be for love, not for titles, though his title was excpetionally high in favor.
"You may want to pay her a visit, then, and invite her. I don't intend on a large production, though, mind you." Laeghton answered kindly, in a way hoping that the queen would attend. "She is better. She'll be ready before she thinks so," he said concerning his sister. Laeghton just nodded at her later words and took the food she gave him, eating like he would never see another plate in his lifetime. He was so hungry, and he had not even known it.

Ooc: I find it strange to write scenes while characters are eating so I'll just skip through it. I know I'm weird lol. Laeghton's silence could be good or bad, Cady had learned over the past two months that she had known the man she loved. Her fiance now. It had been so fast that it took Cady a minute to fully register in her mind that Laeghton was now her fiance. They were going to get married as soon as Laeghton could find a priest that would marry them in private and quietly. That was the most important factor, she could wait a year or so to marry him. She only wanted their guests to experience their day with them, but not the entire kingdom where word could go back to Tyrian. She smiled sweetly at her fiance kissing him once more on the lips her mind forgetting the thoughts that were making their way through her brain causing her to worry. Laegh was already worried and stressed because of the threats of war around them. He did not need this additional stress. Keep him in line? She smirked and kissed him once more. "Well it is a wife's duty to make sure her handsome husband like yourself is happy in all aspects and if that means keeping you in line, then I am up for the task. All I want is your happiness and approval Laegh. I want to be the best mother and wife that you and our future children deserve." She told him with a smile running a finger down his stubbly cheek before he took her hand reassuring her that everything was going to be alright and that he was there for her. That meant everything to her. "I will pay Dani a visit, that sounds like a wonderful idea. I do also need to deliver this to King Joscelin personally. This needs to get into his hands and the only way to reassure me that he has it is if I give it to him myself. No I don't want lots of people there either, just the two of us, the King and Queen, Wren Rae and maybe Master Drogo. He was a childhood friend and he has been kind to me since my arrival. Would that be alright my love?" She asked curiously as the food was prepared and they soon began to eat. * "What a beautiful day is it not?" Cady asked softly as she slowly leaned back against Laeghton's chest. Her back was against his chest as his arms were wrapped around her torso. The food was gone and she was simply staring into the blue sky. Slowly taking a hand on his, she intertwined their fingers, "What will happen if we go to war Laegh? I do not want anything to happen to anyone, especially you, the King and the armies." She asked him softly wanting to know if she could help him in anyway.
