Never in his life had Judicaël had this much responsibility on his shoulders. Somehow, in twenty-nine years, he had always been able to charm his way out of doing anything that he did not want to, and the most he did were his knightly duties to his king, which made him seem far more diligent than truthfully he was. Briefly, he wondered if anyone had ever noticed. He was lax, he was indulgent, and he was an awful man. Now, as he pulled to him the woman that had literally changed all he knew, he replied distantly, "We'll find a good name then. We've plenty of time." He tried to smile but found himself much too caught up in his thoughts of both his past and his present, and wondering if he could ever really be good after so many years living a falsehood.
After several quiet seconds, he felt her lift his hand, only to place it atop the small form growing inside her. He caught a jagged breath in realization that firstly, this child was one that belonged to him, and secondly, that he was absolutely responsible for it. It pained him to wonder if he had any other children floating about the court--likely, he would never know, and he did not want to. Maybe once, Constantia had even--no, no, no! He dare not think any more of her, though she tormented him so. Of course, he would one day have to tell Isolde the truth, or she would find out somewhere--especially with his twin brother nowhere to be found and probable to show up out of the blue on any given day. But he did not want to tell her. He did not want her to see him for what he really was. She had suffered so much; she did not need to know that her future husband was so awful. "I'm sure you deserve it. We both do." That last sentence slipped and Judicaël bit his tongue in protest of himself.
The tea was brought, almost to his relief, but he did not partake of it yet. The diversion was more than welcome, as were Isolde's next words. He took her small hand and raised it to his lips, kissing it tenderly. "Of course I'm thinking of something else," he said sensually, placing kisses down her neck. But he soon lifted his head and replied honestly, the smile returning to his face, "Once we're married, there's no one can tell us otherwise. Mayhap I shall marry you as the woman you wish to be, as the country girl, and coincidentally find out that your father is a royal when I invite the court for celebrations. No one will deny our marriage, you know. I'm certainly not poor." He grinned and let out a heavy breath.

-- Now everything was finally starting to sink in. This wasn't just some adventure, it was much bigger than either one of them. It would change both of them and their lives forever. She nestled into Jude's side, now content after such an emotional morning. Maybe things would work out after all. She couldn't think of everything that could go wrong, it would frighten her and right now she just needed to be calm and happy. Isolde nodded, "We do. And we'll know the right name when the time comes." Would it be a boy or a girl? Would it be fussy or a happy baby? There were so many questions that Isolde wanted to find out. At least it was something that would keep her mind busy. What was she to do all day? Isolde was sure there were thing she could do around here - it needed a woman's touch...desperately.
-- As his hand rested on her stomach, everything seemed to fall into place. Of course this wasn't the normal way of events but she had done the right thing. Isolde no longer cared about herself, all she cared about was the baby's well being. Every choice she made would be for the good of the child. "Yes, yes we do." Isolde sighed. It took one to know one, and Isolde could see the pain behind his eyes just as she was sure he could see her's. Those who had the same pain always found each other. She was just curious as to what had happened to him in his past. Isolde wanted to get to know him and to know what made him the way he was today. Maybe she would never know.
-- A grin spread across her face as he placed a kiss on her hand, then kissed her neck. Isolde breathed softly, giggling. She listened to his plan, thinking. "This is true. They won't doubt that you would marry anyone less than noble blood." Isolde paused, thinking everything through. "Marry me as the woman I wish to be, I'm no longer part of the life I left behind. In the eye of the court I'll play that part though...for you. I'm no stranger to the court." Isolde said honestly. She'd hate for him to be thought of any differently for marrying a peasant. No matter how much he loved her, they would expect him to marry someone of noble blood. It was true, though, she really was. Isolde had never thought she would ever return to court.

The hardest part right now for Jude was wondering what kind of a father he'd be. He had been through so much, some sort of Hell, that he knew at least a little of what not to be. His parents had always hated eachother, and his father had been the devil incarnate. Jude was a bad man, that was not to be denied, but he vowed and he swore that he would not be his father again. He could not hurt Isolde. And he would never spite his child. Or... children, rather. Hopefully, he would be blessed one day with more. With a smile, Jude answered, "I do hope it has your eyes. They're so beautiful. And so much less bland than my own." He grinned. For the rest of his days, this was his life. He had to be responsible. He had to be a husband and a father--all his days of pleasure were over now.
That wasn't entirely true. He now had a beautiful woman at his disposal, and he would not be unfaithful to her. Infidelity had never bound him, as he never had experienced a serious relationship before. Now, it had been set before him, carved in the stone of destiny. "Do you think you could ever love me?" he thought aloud, then warranted that his tongue had never been trustworthy. The only secret he could keep was the one he'd locked away a long time ago, that he would not tell.
He loved her giggle. It made his heart warm, his eyes dance. She may not have been his true love but she was far from imperfect. He smiled. "I may be a knight, but I'm not so sure anyone would doubt me going my own way." He almost let slip something about all the women he'd taken to bed at court, but held his tongue just in time. Isolde did not need to know that about him, either. "Don't do it for me," he asked. God knew he didn't deserve it. "Do it for our child." He smiled. "And I do hope your parents won't murder me for causing your... condition. As do I hope my king will not shame me." He felt like he ought to tell her something about who he really was, but Jude was just too frightened.
To distract her, to hear her giggle again, he resumed his kissing, and wondered if it was entirely inappropriate to admire her body right now.

-- She sincerely hoped her child would have a better life than she. Isolde thought of things that she would never tell anyone. She had certainly been privileged but at what cost? She had gotten pregnant, ran away from home, and now here she was pregnant again. She had no contact with any of her family nor did she want to be in contact with them. They had always treated her poorly. She promised that she would give her child all of the love and devotion she possibly could. Isolde wished that the child could be here right now. She longed to hold a tiny, mewling baby in her arms and to hear the small squeals and giggling. Isolde also couldn't help but hope more children were in their future. "Oh how you flatter me." She said, a small flush spreading across her pale cheeks.
-- Love? "I think so. I think that is going to be the easy part. What about you? Do you think you could love someone like me?" She looked into his eyes. Isolde knew how messed up she was. The biggest fear she had was Jude coming to resent her for coming here today and completely changing his life. Isolde just wanted someone. It would hurt if Jude never loved her, but at least it was something. She had grown tired of living alone. It wasn't that she wanted someone to take care of her, and she knew she could have taken care of her child on her own. But it would just be nice to have company - someone to share the lonely nights with. Maybe her reputation would change. Or maybe they would think she had done this on purpose. No, she had to quit thinking like that. Everything was going to be okay - for now.
-- Isolde patted his hand on her stomach gently and smiled. That was really no surprise to her. Jude had never came off as someone who listened to what other people told him to do. Which was extremely good for her. Isolde had never dealt well with authority either. "It has been a very long time since I have been to court." For so long she had thought those days to be over, but now she was to return to the very atmosphere that had ran away from. Surely this time would be different. Isolde knew that there would still be gossip and rumors and all of the trivial things that made court so intriguing. "My parents probably think me to be dead, or at least consider me dead. You do not need to worry about them." It was simply a fact. They would definitely not send documentation of her nobility. After all, she had run away. And if they did, her mother would want to be in the middle of it, claiming to have missed her daughter. "I don't wish to bring you any shame." She sad a a little sadly.
-- But then he was kissing her again. Her face lit up as she giggled and kissed him back. This was definitely something she could get used to. Isolde pulled back slightly and spoke softly, "How do you have such an effect on me?"
